Just saw the ASIFA prerelease screening of this insanely, visually phenominal 3D experiance and I really, really liked it!

The story, which has been getting the greatest critisism from those who have seen it, was certainly an expansion from the original book by Neil Gaiman, and for the most part that worked for me. I LOVED seeing the world fleshed out and for sure the performing mice and the old ladies musical number ecxeded how I imagined these scenes when I read the book. DELIGHTFULL !!

I am on the fence about the new characters added... at least until I see it again. I can certainly understand Henry's need to tell some of the nonverbal aspects of the book by introducing the 'boy' as a narrative devise... and to help win over young dudes to the audience...
The cat by far was my favorite character. Lots of great non verbal 'dialog' and when he did speak zowiee was the voice perfect!
In fact the voice acting (with the exception of the syrupy ghost kids) was near to perfect - which frankly suprised the HELL outta me since I had intended to HATE Dycotta Fanning... but she did a really great and convincing job.

I was also very, very, very happy to see that this did not just look like a smooth CG animated film. The animation was flawless - but happily there were certainly the visual touch of the animator as artist comming through the performances. There was even an effective use of 'twos' at times that betrayed the stop motion process. THANK GOD !!! There was an almost tactile feel to the film - especially with the stereoscopic 3D !!! It felt like what it was a REAL world not a digital realm one made up of 0's and 1's.
I will definately be seeing it again in imax 3D to get the fully emersive experience !!!
My hats off to all those Stop-Motion Brothers and Sisters who gave up years of there life to create this visual masterpiece !!!!!
Good work guys !!!
